In Mexico we received presents from the "wise men" (Reyes Magos)in January 6. You need to leave your shoe under the Christmas tree with a letter in it, and the wise men do their job. The girls love it because they get presents twice hee hee hee and the wise men get the toys on clearance!!!!!!!

Today was Haley's first day of school. She is going into first grade. I almost didn't cry when we droped her off at her class room. This time she didn't even look back,she just went straight in! Last year she told me she wanted to be with Mrs. Smith, and after a little arm twisting at the school office I was able to make it happen. Haley is happy with her teacher but her pre K teacher is also teaching first grade and now she says she wants to be in her class. Although she maintains that she very much likes Mrs. Smith.

Sometimes you wonder why kids never listen to you when you tell then not to do something that is going to get them hurt, especially after what happened in this picture. Shelby and Haley were wrestling on their bed and for some reason Shelby decided to attempt a flying head dive onto the foot of the bed. Well, I don't know if she hit her mark, but she sure did whack her head on the bed post. The welt was about 3 inches in height off of her forehead, but was not too serious. In Mexico we use sugar water to ease the swelling of such injuries, and it actually worked! Good times!

This summer was a little less productive than the last one. This time I had an extra baby to deal with but the kids had lots of fun anyway. We went to the zoo,the Phoenix Children's Museum, lots of swimming including a trip to the Big Surf Water park.

Haley went to the Bishop's office today after church in search of a piece of candy. The bishop prompted her to name the current prophet, to which she responded by staring at the wall. Mortified that my daughter couldn't answer this basic question, I gave here a little nudge in the back and said, "Come on Haley, you know this!" The bishop, ever helpful, broadened the survey to include the name of any prophet, to which Haley decidedly responded by looking around nervously and staring at anything BUT the Bishop. After a few agonizingly embarrassing moments where I contemplated my worthlessness as a mother, the Bishop mercifully gave her the candy. I guess Haley can't regurgitate basic Gospel information under pressure! Every time she says the family prayer she asks Heavenly Father to bless the prophet and calls him by name, but when a piece of candy is on the line she freezes up. Where did it all go wrong??

Haley learned alot and had lts of fun in Kindergarten. She is so excited to start 1st grade. Here are some pictures of her last activities of the school year.

This was a theatrical play of Little Red Riding Hood. She was a cute flower(I was hoping she was going to have a more significant role this year, but that is just the terrible mother in me coming out again). For two weeks straight the only thing Haley did was recite lines and sing songs from the play!!! GGGRRRRR!

This was her kindergarten graduation, in which Haley and here classmates did a demonstration of what they learned about the ocean.

This was water day. They had lots of fun.

My Poor Shelby

This year my poor Shelby has had lots of health issues. She started with a small growth in her eye, a heart murmer and a pretty bad ear infection. After several visits with the eye specialist and the pediatrician, her eye wasn't getting any better. After her 3 year old check up, she broke out with a high fever. Two days and 3 bottles of children's tylenol later, we started suspecting an ear infection and took her to the urgent care facility. After hours of waiting the doctor checked her ears and said he couldn't see anything in her ears as they were plugged up with wax. He had the nurse clean her ears(rather painfully for Shelby; she kept yelling: "NO MAS, MAMI, NO MAS!"). The doctor then checked her again and still couldn't see anything, and said he wouldn't prescribe antibiotics if he couldn't find any infection. I was frustrated with this answer, of course, and gave the doctor my scariest withering stare(which Brian calls "the EYE," or "la mirada"), (also keep in mind that I hadn't slept in two days as Sheby had been up crying all night, which made for and extra scary withering stare ), after which he decided to have the nurse do another cleaning of Shelby's ear. After the second cleaning the doctor examined Shelby again, and lo and behold he found a rather severe infection, for which he promptly gave us so antibiotics.

After another couple of hour wait at Walgreens, we finally had the medicine and we went home for a well deserved, proper nights sleep. As an added bonus, the antibiotics cured the growth in her eye! ....... so much for the eye speciaist; money well spent there! Next on Shelby's list of misadventures...... potty training!!!

Tithing

For the last couple of years, every time we have had our tithing settlement with the Bishop, he has asked why Haley doesn't pay tithing. Our answer has been that I am not going to pay her for cleaning her bedroom and helping out around the house(I am such a horrible mother!). This year we are helping Haley learn about tithing by earning some money. Maren had a garage sale, so we decided to get some doughnuts and lemonade for Haley to sell with her friend Clara. After a relatively sizeable loss of money and a few rather unwisely accepted payments tendered in the form of Canadian coins, the girls "made" so money from which they can pay tithing. They started out very excited but ended up frustrated and hot, abandoning the lemonade stand to go and play inside. Overall they enjoyed it and did a great job selling.

Navie's Blessing Day

This Sunday March 1st was Navie's Blessing.
Brian gave her a beautiful blessing. He told me after how alert Navie was during the blessing, with her cooing and her eyes open. I'm sure she knew what was going on.
I love my baby she is so special. I love her smell, her chubby face and everything she represents for our family.
After the blessing we went home to have some lunch with Brian's family and some friends.
I made cheese balls, crackers and spinach dip with bread; which were from Maren's cooking blog. Also, Nikki brought chips and salsa. The main plate was taco salad Costa Vida style with Maren's best Pot Roast. It was delicious! I made fresh squeezed lemonade and for dessert we had a yummy brownie truffle made by Casey.

On Valentine's day we started the day with a yummy breakfast of eggs, bacon, strawberries, pancakes and fresh squeezed orange juice.
I bought these cute mail boxes for my kids and I decorated them with their names and other cute things.

Haley wanted curly hair, or rather I wanted her to have curly hair, so last night I curled her hair using rags, thinking it would come out cute the next morning. When I took out the rags, they were terrible! The sad thing was that I couldn't stop laughing. Shelby was pointing and laughing at her head all moring. It truly was sad, but I couldn't help it. We got it fixed though, in time for school.

Here are the terrible curls. Poor Haley. She is going to need psychiatric help with a mother like me.

This holiday season was excellent. We had a new addition to our family; precious little Navie.

I love fake Christmas trees but Brian loves real ones. He grew up with fresh Christmas trees his whole life, so we have to have a real one every year. The funny thing is , his parents don't get a real one anymore hahahaha.

Poor pet. He had a sad ending in the black trash barrel. The thing would beep constantly so we had to discreetly throw it out. It was so annoying. Brian told me that when he to the black barrel to the curb, the thing was still beeping inside a week later(grrrrrr)!

Christmas morning was fun. The kids got a lot of presents but the main one was this jeep. They love it.

Drake came over to play and he had to ride the jeep on the front. He was happy though!

We decided to go to the Temple lights. It wasn't too cold so we took Navie. But you know I had to wrap her up in her swaddling clothes just in case!

We really enjoy Chritsmas season. This year we will be working on the Three kings day (January 6th) so the kids will enjoy this great Mexican tradition.

We went to a Pancake Breakfast with Santa at Haley's school. It was very fun but every time I took a picture of my family BJ is the only one happy. Haley always has a sad face and Shelby is always crying or eating something.

My new baby is finally here, I started labor Friday the 12th in the morning, me and Shelby went to a fun Birthday party and despite the contractions I felt, Shelby had fun.

When we returned home I had more contractions and they started getting closer together, so I called Brian but he didn't answer. So I called Becky and I just wanted to cry. I was so scared. Becky called Brian and he came home. He took me to get a pedicure, and the ladies at the pedicure place wanted me to go to the hospital so I didn't have the baby at their store; it was really funny.

Finally we went to the hospital and I was 4 cm dialated, but they sent me home with a sleeping pill in my system. The next thing I knew a was in my bed at my house with really strong contractions about 2 hours later.

We went back to the hospital and after a little battle betwen Brian and the Nurse at Triage she let me go in.

At that point I was at 7 cm and I felt so much pain. They took me to the labor room and I asked for some pain relief but it was to late as the baby was already here. They put me in the bed and the nurse told me to start pushing if I needed to. So I started pushing and after the 3rd push Navie came out. My doctor wasn't even there and I was so mad! In fact the oncall doctor wasn't even there so the nurse and my mother in law recieved the baby.

Haley's Birthday Parties

Haley is always asking when her birthday is. She thinks it lasts all year long. So of course when it really is her birthday, it has to be a huge event! This year I decided to throw her a "Daisy" party. It was really cute. We had games and we decorated cup cakes. The kids wore little aprons, cute hair clips and bracelets. After her friends left Brian's family came over for a family party(we couldn't just have one party!). I only hope that Haley had fun and enjoyed her sixth birthday parties.

On halloween day we started early with activities, first at Haley's school, then we went to Becky's house for spooky dinner before going trick or treating it was a lot of fun.

The beginning of Trick or Treat, Shelby was excited but she did not want to wear her wings anymore.

After walking for almost 30 mins to Becky's house for dinner I was so tired. We tried to take some pictures of the kids but the only way was to have the TV on.

Finally trick or treat, we started with 2 Tinker bells, Ninja, and superman and at the end I only had two tinker bells and I was extremely tired

I love this picture. This is my pay off for the day; two cute kids sleeping.

Just for the record Shelby ate a least 20 lolly pops the whole night. I was really surprised when I saw her sleeping.

This year the girls had so much fun before halloween. We had so many activities. I was really happy because they used their costumes more then once. Haley decided for this year to be a witch and Shelby a Cat, but in the end they wanted to be Tinker Bell.

Haley is now six years old and I'm so sad because she is not my baby anymore. Here are some things about Haley and pictures of her growing up.

You know I love to go garage sale shopping, and 2 weeks ago I convinced Haley to go with me. We came back home for Brian and Shelby to go grocery shopping and when we got to the store Haley announced, "ok Mom and Dad, NO MORE STORES!"

That makes me think that I might go shopping a bit too much, hmm....

Grandpa and Grandma invited us to their ward Halloween party. Upon seeing a ghost in the haunted house Grandpa told Haley: "Haley, look, its a ghost!" Haley replied, "Thats not a ghost, thats just a bonehead!"

We love Haley very much and we are sure she will be a wonderful little girl despite her parents.

We went to the Hinze's halloween party. We had so much fun. We can't stop laughing because every costume was really funny.
Me and Brian decided to be Frodo Baggins and Gandolf, we thought that the height difference between Frodo and Gandolf would be appropriate for us and because the hobbits are chubby it would be a perfect for me and my belly.

Haley's Chorus Concert

This is Haley's second year going to Miss Maren and Miss Candace Chorus, she loves to sing and to be in the spot light hahahaha, this week they have a concert with some school songs and fun halloween songs, these ladies are amazing with the little girls, and Haley loves them.

Shelby's birthday was like 5 months ago but I would still like to have a post about it.

Some things we adore about Shelby.

*She is so happy.
*She loves Haley.
*She loves her Binky, "futy" (silky blanket) and her stuffed animal Nala.

*She loves necklaces and bracelets.
*She loves wow wow wubbzy! (noggin show)
*She loves the movie "Barbie and The Nutcracker" and "The Swan Lake."

*She doesn't like milk.
*She always says please and thank you.
*Usually when we say prayers we ask Shelby if she wants to say it, and her response is always "no", but last week we were sitting at the table for dinner when Shelby start to pray all by herself!!! it was so cute, we are so proud of her (she was also proud of herself too when she was done praying..... hahahaha) now she always wants to say a prayer for everything.

Haley Lost Her First Tooth!

Haley lost her first tooth last week. It's been wiggling for over two weeks and every day Haley has asked me if it was ready to come off. The moment that Haley had been waiting for forever has finally arrive during lunch time at school her tooth come off!!!!!

The tooth fairy (from USA) left $1 and the Mouse (From Mexico) left $1 also, she was so happy to be half Mexican and half American.

Ok, yesterday Haley was my little baby, and I don't know what happened, now she is in kinder all day, I miss her really really badly!!!!!. I guess she is not my baby anymore. She is a big girl now and she doesn't need me as much as before.

Oh! yes dear friends and family we are having another GIRL!!!!!!!!!!, I'm excited and Brian too, oh well he has no choice, poor thing hahaha. I told Haley about the new baby girl, and she asked me: "Mommy why do you have to have only girls? I want you to have a baby boy!" she is so funny.

The other night it started raining and when I told the girls, they went to their closet to put some boots and rain coats on. Its so sad, but only Haley has a coat and boots for the rain. But Shelby put some snow boots and a jaket on, hahahaha, they look so funny!
